When designing VELO, we combined uncompromising grinding performance with innovative design solutions that eliminate all the shortcomings of traditional flap discs. This tool was created for professionals who accept no compromises when it comes to precision, safety, and working comfort.
For professional installers, consistency, working speed, and eliminating waste of expensive materials are essential. The VELO flap disc has been designed to solve real challenges encountered when machining demanding surface materials.
At the core of the VELO disc is a unique, precisely balanced arrangement of abrasive flaps, combining the two hardest synthetic materials in the world:
Unlike commonly used plastic-backed discs, the VELO base is manufactured from digitally machined aluminum. Plastic deforms under pressure and heat, generating micro-vibrations. The aluminum VELO body guarantees perfect geometry and weight distribution. The disc literally "floats" across the material, allowing exceptionally stable control of the angle grinder along the edge.
No more searching for flange wrenches or spacer washers. VELO features an integrated factory-threaded M14 mounting hole in its aluminum body. This allows the flap disc to be mounted directly onto the spindle of virtually any angle grinder in just 3 seconds while ensuring perfect concentric alignment.
Dropping an angle grinder from a workbench is a common occurrence on construction sites. While a plastic-backed disc may crack or develop invisible micro-fractures (which can cause the disc to break apart at 11,000 RPM), the aluminum base of the VELO disc will not crack. This guarantees operator safety and ensures the tool can be used until the very last grain of diamond.
Intensive grinding of porcelain tiles generates extreme temperatures that dull the diamond and damage the bond. The aluminum body of the VELO disc acts as a heat sink, rapidly drawing heat away from the grinding zone and dissipating it into the surrounding air. As a result, the diamond coating remains cooler and maintains its cutting performance for significantly longer.
Beveling porcelain tile edges is one of the most demanding tasks in modern tile installation, especially when working with rectified tiles featuring hard, chip-prone glazed surfaces.
How VELO Works: Initial cutting almost always leaves microscopic chips. Thanks to its rigid, perfectly balanced aluminum body, VELO eliminates grinder vibration, allowing the bevel line to be finished with surgical precision right up to the glazed edge without damaging the tile corner. The hybrid combination of diamond and silicon carbide ensures a bevel with a factory-like finish.
Sintered stone slabs with thicknesses of 3 mm, 5 mm, or 6 mm contain significant internal stresses. Incorrect tool selection or excessive vibration during grinding may cause a slab worth thousands of euros to crack.
How VELO Works: The VELO disc minimizes vibration transferred to the material. The flexible silicon carbide flaps act as a cushioning layer for the aggressive diamond coating, allowing excess material removal, edge finishing, and beveling of large-format slabs without generating stress that could cause cracking.
Porcelain tiles (through-body colored, glazed, or polished) quickly wear out conventional abrasive discs. In addition, once cut to size, their edges become razor-sharp, making proper grout adhesion more difficult.
How VELO Works: The disc is designed for the rapid creation of both technical chamfers (breaking sharp edges) and decorative chamfers. VELO does not tear or damage the decorative glaze, leaving a perfectly smooth surface ready for cement or epoxy grout.
Stone workshops and installers of finished components such as kitchen countertops, stair treads, and window sills require the highest possible edge finish quality.
How VELO Works: The disc easily handles hard granite as well as delicate marble. It is used for shaping and leveling edge profiles (such as rounded edges), preparing surfaces for final polishing, and removing saw marks. Thanks to its aluminum body, which efficiently dissipates heat, the diamond bond on the VELO disc does not become glazed when working on hard stone.
Not all tiles leave the factory with perfect dimensions, and their underside often contains manufacturing flash made of clay or sintered material that prevents proper installation on a thin layer of adhesive.
How VELO Works: The aggressive diamond coating allows excess material to be removed from the side or underside of the tile in just a few seconds. If achieving a perfect pattern alignment requires removing just 1 millimeter, VELO enables precise dry grinding without the need to restart a large water-cooled cutting machine.
The flap disc is available in a complete system of three grit sizes, allowing the entire machining process to be carried out from rough shaping to finishing:
