Tile drill bits wet

Wet tile drill bits are engineered for precise hole-making in hard tiles, porcelain and natural stone using water cooling. The water keeps the diamond layer cool, extends bit life and delivers a cleaner bore edge than dry drilling. For extra-hard materials, wet drilling is the recommended method.

Water cooling for hard materials

Porcelain, granite and polished natural stone are so hard that dry drilling wears the diamond layer too quickly. Water prevents that: it flushes away abrasive particles, keeps the temperature low and ensures even diamond wear. The result is a hole with a smooth, chip-free edge — essential for visible work where the bore edge remains exposed.

Method and accessories

A water ring or suction-cup guide is a handy accessory that holds the bit in place and creates a water reservoir around the drill location simultaneously. This eliminates the need to top up water manually and lets you focus entirely on the drilling process.

Wet drilling requires a water supply — either via a pressure sprayer, a water tray with pump or a tap connection. The simplest approach is a sponge or water ring that maintains a layer of water on the tile around the drill location, so you do not have to top up continuously. Use a drill with variable speed and start slowly to position the bit accurately.
