Dry drilling versus wet drilling

Dry diamond drill bits work without water cooling and are ideal when no water supply is available or when the substrate must stay dry. They produce more dust, so proper extraction is important. Wet diamond drill bits are cooled with water, which keeps the temperature low, extends service life and virtually eliminates dust. For reinforced concrete we generally recommend wet drilling because the steel reinforcement generates significant additional heat.

Core drill bits for utilities and ventilation

Diamond core drill bits are a specific type designed for cutting round openings for flush-mount boxes, pipe penetrations and ventilation ducts. They are available in standard sizes that match common electrical and plumbing systems. The open core construction allows drilling debris to be evacuated easily, so you work faster and cleaner. Core drilling is the preferred method when you need a precise, circular opening without weakening the surrounding structure.

When selecting a diamond drill bit, consider the wall thickness you need to penetrate. Shallow holes up to 150 mm can be managed with shorter bits, while deep penetrations through thick concrete walls require extended-length barrels with additional ventilation slots.
